"SHEroes celebrates female heroes both real and fictional at Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema on International Women's Day, Saturday March 8th.

An art exhibition featuring portrayals of fictional female heroes by professional female artists across the Southeast will be on display around the coffee shop. Participating artists include Rachel Blier of Washington, DC, Natalie Andrewson of Charlotte, and Kaysha Siemens of Asheville, accompanying the works of numerous Triad artists. Subjects range from Marvel X-Men's "Storm" to Mothra of Godzilla lore. Some artwork will be for sale at the artist's discretion.

The free event runs from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and will include light refreshments and talks by some of the featured artists. A percentage of beverage purchases during the event will benefit UNCG's Office of Housing and Residence Life Social Justice and Diversity Initiative's production of "The Vagina Monologues" and the local charity they have selected, Clara House, which provides housing for women who are victims of domestic abuse.  UNC Greensboro's production of "The Vagina Monologues" is officially part of the internationally-recognized V-Day campaign to end abuse against women.

A special viewing of the documentary Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines will take place at noon in the cinema.

The artwork will be on display until March 31st."
