Children Create Art Highlighting Food and Flare;
Contest Benefits Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® Campaign
By Carly Dennis
For the second year, thousands of children coast to coast pulled out their paintbrushes and answered the question, “What is your favorite product from The Fresh Market?” Little shoppers were challenged with submitting their own original artwork for a chance to be featured on the specialty grocer’s limited edition 2014 reusable shopping bags.
After thorough review and multiple rounds of voting, The Fresh Market is delighted to announce the two winners of its 2014 Design Our Bag Challenge: Celeste Rodriguez from Memphis, Tenn. and Kylie Schmidt from Santa Barbara, Calif. Each child will receive a $200 gift card to The Fresh Market, a kid-friendly goodie basket filled with an artist kit and other edible treats, as well as bragging rights!
Each winning design will be printed on one side of a reusable shopping bag that will be sold at The Fresh Market stores nationwide beginning in June. The specialty grocer will donate 50% of the sale price of each limited edition bag to No Kid Hungry, with a minimum donation of $150,000 in 2014.
The winning bags from last year’s inaugural contest have raised over $60,000 for No Kid Hungry, which is ending childhood hunger in America by connecting kids with the healthy food they need, every day.
