| Short Tales for Children #15 Auditions We are very excited about the 15th edition of our biannual Short Tales for Children. These short plays give young performers a unique opportunity to be on stage and gain experience with less commitment requirements of our mainstage productions.This year we are very fortunate to have 4 UNCG Theatre Education majors directing plays as they prepare to become teachers. Auditions are Saturday, March 1, 1-3 pm at the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie Street, Studio 108. Performances are April 26 & 27 at 2:05 pm at the Greensboro Historical Museum. |
Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream Shakespeare's most famous comedy of mistaken identities, lovers and prankster fairies. Auditions are open to ages 10-20. Livestock Players and We are One combine forces to present this classic in an exciting and beautiful realistic setting, The Greensboro Arboretum. Livestock Players Teen Theater (grades 9 - age 20) will audition the hilarious farce, Rumors by Neil Simon, March 24-25, 7-9 pm at the Greensboro Cultural Center. Our Guest Director this year is Sarah Jean "Sparkie" Sparks. This Show has some strong technical needs. High School technicians looking for practical resume material should contact Stephen Hyers for Set Design, Master Electrician, Props or Costume design experience. A great way to gain service hours and build your resume. Performances are May 9-18.
Sarah Jean "Sparkie" Sparks is a recent alum of Wake Forest University (B.A., Theatre Arts), where she directed shows including her thesis (The Old Petrol Station by Tim Rhys) and a V-Day performance (A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle). Her recent City Arts experiences include directing last year's Murder Mystery Gala Fundraiser as well as several one-acts for the Evenings of Short Plays, and assistant directing for the New Play Project's showing ofHoneyboy by Tommy Trull, last year. She also has a lot of stage management experience, including the past two City Arts B.I.G. (Broadway In Greensboro) Summer Musicals. |
James & The Giant Peach, a musical The Greensboro Children's Theatre will audition its musical for the Season, James & the Giant Peach, April 4-5 at the Cultural Center. performers in grades 4-9 should prepare 16 bars of a song to sing at auditions. Bring the sheet music or a non-vocal CD. You will also be asked to read from the script. For more information, please call 336-373-2728. Shakespeare in the Park Our fourth collaboration with the Guilford County Schools and NC Shakespeare Festival continues this summer with auditions for the comedy Much Ado about Nothing directed by Chris Veneris. Auditions Are April 20-22 at the Greensboro Cultural Center. Please prepare a short monologue from a Shakespeare play. Auditions are open to teens and adults! Call 336-373-2026 for more information.
